Styrene-Butadiene Rubber (SBR) Deodorizer

Product Introduction

This product is a high-performance reactive odorless deodorizer developed specifically to solve the odor problems of Styrene-Butadiene Rubber (SBR) and its products. SBR systems commonly suffer from complex chemical odors caused by residual styrene monomers, volatilization of eco-friendly filler oils (like aromatic and naphthenic oils), and complicated vulcanization byproducts. Traditional physical masking or simple adsorption powders struggle to clear these stubborn aromatic hydrocarbons and sulfides, and they are prone to migration upon temperature changes, leading to precipitation on the final product surfaces.

To break this limitation, this product pioneers "benzene ring targeted purification technology" and a multiple catalytic oxidation system. Through precision solid-state compatible carrier design, under the high-temperature and high-shear action of the internal mixer, the special lubricating carrier rapidly melts to perfectly encapsulate the polar reactive deodorizing centers. Upon cooling, its non-polar long chains physically entangle deeply with the SBR macromolecular network. This "in-situ anchoring" mechanism locks the migration path of the molecules from thermodynamic roots, ensuring the material remains pure and dry. It perfectly complies with standard sulfur and peroxide curing systems without interfering with the cross-linking network, preserving the physical and mechanical properties of the material.

Deodorizing Principle

  • Benzene Ring Targeted Purification: Designed for residual styrene monomers and derivatives. It utilizes micro-pores with specific high affinity to quickly enrich benzene ring structures; then, via a nucleophilic addition mechanism, it accurately attacks the side chains, chemically converting characteristic "styrene odor" molecules into odorless polymer fragments.
  • Directional Sulfide Conversion: Against sulfur-containing odors (thiols, thioethers) from vulcanization, it constructs a metal-organic framework. Through coordination bonds, it accurately captures sulfur malodorous molecules, converting them into highly stable metal sulfides permanently fixed within the rubber network.
  • Catalytic Oxidative Cracking: Built-in transition metal catalytic centers are activated during high-temp mixing to efficiently catalytically oxidize and crack light fractions from filler oils and degradation aldehydes/ketones into odorless carbon dioxide and water.
  • In-situ Anchoring & Anti-precipitation: Utilizes an amphiphilic long-chain aliphatic compatible carrier that melts to wrap the polar deodorizing molecules. After cooling, it deeply entangles with rubber macromolecules, completely isolating precipitation channels and ensuring a persistently dry surface.

Application Areas

  • Footwear & High-Abrasion Rubber: Eco-friendly SBR sports shoe sole deodorizer, rubber rain boot pungent odor eliminator, safety shoe sole aromatic oil deodorization, casual shoe sole anti-precipitation odor treatment.
  • Daily Life & Stationery: Indoor eco-friendly rubber floor mat odor treatment, odorless modification for rubber toys and erasers, low VOC emission control for high-demand floor leather.
  • Industrial Blends & Shock-Absorbing Parts: SBR/BR blended conveyor belt deodorization, styrene odor elimination for SBR shock pads, vulcanization stench purification for auto tires and seals, heavy-duty buffer parts odor removal.

Usage Method

  • Adding Method: Add directly during the early stage of internal mixing. It is recommended to add it along with raw rubber and powder fillers (like carbon black/silica) to utilize initial high shear force for dispersion. While standard equipment suffices, if available, using a high-speed mixer for pre-dispersion with other inorganic powders will yield the most optimal, extremely uniform dispersion results.
  • Mixing Requirements: Ensure the actual mixing colloid temperature exceeds the carrier's melting point (above 140°C) to fully trigger the compatible encapsulation mechanism and integrate it deeply with the rubber network.

Reference Dosage

  • Recommended Dosage: 0.1% - 0.3% (based on total material weight).
  • Starting Test Dosage: To achieve the best results, start testing at the lower limit (0.1%) and fine-tune based on actual odor reduction.

Precautions

  • Processing Temp Threshold: Ensure high-temp shear environments exceed 140°C. Avoid solely scattering powder during low-temp open mill sheeting, as active molecules cannot be effectively encapsulated, affecting later surface dryness.
  • Moisture-proof Storage: Contains micro-porous adsorptive materials and active catalytic centers sensitive to humidity. After opening for sampling, exhaust the air from the bag immediately, seal it tightly, and store in a cool, dry place.
