Rubber Liquid Deodorizer

Product Introduction

In the modern rubber industry, general rubbers and special elastomers often face severe odor problems during processing and molding, primarily stemming from sulfur curing byproducts (e.g., hydrogen sulfide, thiols) and peroxide decomposition products. Traditional masking fragrances cannot eliminate the source of the odor, while conventional solid deodorizers are limited by dispersion uniformity when dealing with high-viscosity rubber systems containing large amounts of porous fillers, potentially causing optical defects.

Relying on cutting-edge polymer homogeneous reaction rheology, this product is tailor-made for harsh rubber and elastomer processing environments. It utilizes a non-polar liquid medium highly homologous to the rubber matrix as a carrier, completely dissolving highly reactive groups to form a true homogeneous solution. The product is a clear liquid that does not alter the optical characteristics of the final product. During the mixing stage, the transparent liquid endows it with excellent penetrating and dispersing capabilities, enabling it to rapidly and uniformly wet the materials and achieve molecular-level contact with odor-causing molecules deep inside the compound. This product boasts extremely high chemical inertness and thermodynamic compatibility, operating without interfering with functional additives like curing agents and accelerators. It has no negative impact on vulcanization characteristics and material mechanical properties, fundamentally ensuring that rubber products achieve long-lasting odor neutralization while maintaining a perfect, dry surface finish.

Appearance

Clear, transparent to slightly pale-yellow homogeneous liquid.

Deodorizing Principle

  • Targeted Irreversible Neutralization: The highly reactive groups in the molecules selectively target typical odor-causing molecules (such as amines, sulfides, and thiols). Through precise complexation and chemical bonding, they convert them into non-volatile stable compounds, thoroughly eliminating the odor source at the molecular structural level.
  • Homogeneous Reaction Kinetics: The transparent liquid product can fully dissolve in organic solvents and plasticizer systems commonly used in rubber processing. This molecular-level mutual solubility allows it to rapidly capture trace malodorous gases scattered among the rubber polymer chains before they are adsorbed by porous fillers, offering excellent reaction efficiency.
  • Homologous Compatibility & Permanent Anchoring: Designed with a liquid carrier highly affined to non-polar polymers. The reaction products are chemically stable, preventing the odor from recurring over time or at elevated temperatures. Based on the principle of thermodynamic similarity, it achieves deep integration with the rubber matrix, ensuring long-term stability.

Application Areas

  • General & Specialty Rubber Products: Hoses, sealing strips, tapes, and molded products using Natural Rubber (NR), Styrene-Butadiene Rubber (SBR), EPDM, and transparent silicone rubber curing systems.
  • Thermoplastic Elastomers: Odor improvement for soft polymer materials such as TPE, TPV, TPU, and SEBS.
  • Recycled Rubber & Foaming Systems: Efficient elimination of complex odors in various recycled rubbers; removal of ammonia and amine odors and reduction of overall VOCs in foamed rubber products.

Usage Method

  • Adding Method: It can be slowly injected along with plasticizers and processing oils during the mixing process or added online via a liquid metering pump on injection/extrusion equipment.
  • Mixing Requirements: The liquid product disperses very easily in the rubber compound, but sufficient mixing is still necessary to ensure the active components uniformly wet the entire rubber network.
  • Pre-treatment Suggestion: For rubber systems containing porous fillers (such as carbon black, silica, etc.), it is recommended to add this product preferentially before the fillers fully incorporate into the rubber, ensuring the deodorizer contacts the polymer network first.

Reference Dosage

  • Rubber Formulation Reference: Recommended to add 0.1% - 0.2% of the total material weight.
  • Starting Test Recommendation: It is advisable to start testing at the lower limit of 0.1%, progressively optimizing based on the balance between odor elimination and physical properties, aiming for the lowest effective dosage.

Precautions

  • This product is a high-purity homogeneous true solution. It must be kept sealed during storage to avoid becoming cloudy from moisture absorption after long-term exposure to humid environments.
  • The product is neutral. Excessive use will not cause scorching, but exceeding the recommended upper limit may produce a slight extra plasticizing and leveling effect; routine rheological evaluation is recommended.
