Rubber Cable Deodorizer

Product Introduction

In the industrial manufacturing of high-end modern rubber cables (such as EPDM, natural rubber, and specialty elastomer-coated wires), peroxide cross-linking agents, various vulcanization accelerators, and anti-aging components undergo complex depolymerization and thermal degradation during high-temperature vulcanization. This irreversible thermal history releases a composite odor containing organic sulfides, free amines, and volatile small molecules, heavily polluting the workshop environment and causing the final cables to exceed VOC limits. Traditional physical masking or simple porous adsorbents easily fail under the high-temperature vulcanization and long-term heating cycles of rubber cables. They may even migrate outward due to poor compatibility, affecting the visual quality of the cable.

To thoroughly break through this technical bottleneck, this product is a high-purity, reactive dry-blend deodorizing additive designed for rigorous new energy and automotive eco-friendly rubber cables. Rheologically, it innovatively introduces a homologous macromolecular anchoring network and a nano-hydrophobic isolation architecture, achieving instantaneous excellent dispersion in the rubber compound under standard mixing conditions, securing microscopic purity. Chemically, through the synergy of multiple active components, it not only accurately captures and chelates sulfur- and nitrogen-containing malodorous groups but also catalytically decomposes peroxide residues. The entire process does not participate in vulcanization competition and forms permanent in-situ entanglement in the cross-linked network, ensuring the cable surface remains perfectly dry and flawless over long-term high-temperature operation. It is a top-tier cable purification solution balancing electrical insulation safety and ultimate low odor.

Deodorizing Principle

  • Multifunctional Targeted Chelation: The highly nucleophilic sites in the core components actively track and lock sulfur- and nitrogen-containing odor molecules from thermal degradation and cross-linking byproducts. Through addition and coordinate bonding, they are converted into non-volatile, highly stable macromolecular products, permanently securing the odor source.
  • Catalytic Cracking of Peroxide Residues: Embedded specialty auxiliary components are activated at mixing and cross-linking temperatures to catalytically decompose peroxide residues and intermediates, blocking the continuous generation of odor precursors from the root.
  • Macromolecular In-situ Anchoring: Incorporates a compatible macromolecular carrier with special reactivity. During high-temperature vulcanization, it undergoes in-situ entanglement and micro-crosslinking with the matrix macromolecules. This thermodynamic microscopic lock thoroughly deprives polar components of their outward migration channels, ensuring a long-lasting, flawless surface.
  • Water-free Inorganic Porous Barrier: A specially formulated ultra-fine inorganic insulating skeleton features a massive micro-nano porous structure. While efficiently extracting free VOCs physically, it absolutely avoids introducing any crystal water, perfectly safeguarding the electrical insulation performance and dielectric strength of the rubber cable.

Application Areas

  • New Energy & Automotive Cables: NEV high-voltage cables, high-end automotive interior wiring harnesses, and specialty eco-friendly charging pile cables.
  • Specialty Engineering Cables: Insulation and sheathing materials for rail transit cables and aerospace cables in confined spaces.
  • Substrate Compatibility: Widely compatible with various high-end substrate systems, including Natural Rubber (NR), Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM), Silicone Rubber (SR), and Nitrile Rubber (NBR).

Usage Method

  • Adding Method: A ready-to-use physical dry powder. In the initial stage of conventional internal mixing or open mill mixing, add it to the equipment along with main and auxiliary materials such as raw rubber, inorganic fillers, and peroxide or sulfur vulcanizing agents.
  • Mixing Requirements: Thanks to the nano-scale hydrophobic isolation treatment, it has a broad tolerance for mixing equipment shear forces (high-speed mixers provide even better results). Simply blending it in conventional mixing equipment at room temperature allows uniform coating, followed directly by compounding.

Reference Dosage

  • General Recommendation: 0.1% - 0.3% of the total formulation weight.
  • Starting Test Dosage: It is suggested to set the initial sampling evaluation uniformly at 0.2%. Subsequent fine-tuning can be done based on the raw rubber odor concentration, vulcanization system ratio, and terminal VOC test results.

Precautions

  • Moisture-Proof Sealing: Due to its large specific surface area, if not completely used after opening, be sure to tie the moisture-proof inner bag tightly to prevent prolonged exposure to high humidity, which could affect powder fluidity and dispersion.
  • Vulcanization Process Matching: This product does not interfere with normal cross-linking kinetics. However, when using mixing or extrusion equipment with vacuum exhaust capabilities, it is recommended to turn on the vacuum to efficiently expel free gas-phase products after chemical capture and catalytic decomposition.
