PVC Cable Deodorizer

Product Introduction

During the extrusion compounding and coating processes of PVC cable materials (especially automotive wiring harnesses, household appliance internal wiring, and medical cables), high processing temperatures (160°C-190°C) easily cause the resin to thermally degrade and release hydrogen chloride (HCl), emitting a strong, pungent acidic odor. Simultaneously, the large amount of plasticizers used in the formulation undergoes thermal oxidative aging, releasing complex low-molecular-weight aldehyde, ketone, and olefin odors. Traditional inorganic alkaline neutralization solutions release gases during the deodorization process, causing micropores in the insulation layer, which directly leads to spark breakdown and insulation failure.

To thoroughly resolve these fatal pain points in the cable extrusion industry, this product is a new generation "all-organic, fully melting" reactive deodorizer developed specifically for high-demand PVC cable materials. In the heated extrusion zone, the active components 100% melt into a transparent liquid phase, achieving molecular-level perfect miscibility with the PVC melt. Utilizing top-tier "non-gas-producing" chemical absorption technology, it instantly converts free acidic gases and degraded aldehydes/ketones into stable macromolecules without producing any byproduct gases, perfectly safeguarding the cable's dielectric strength and mechanical properties. Through highly polar long carbon chain design for homologous compatibility, it permanently anchors in the polymer 3D network, endures severe thermal aging, and synergistically enhances PVC thermal stability, making it an indispensable core additive for high-end, low-VOC cables.

Deodorizing Principle

  • Non-Gas-Producing Addition Absorption (Insulation Protection): Embedded high-tension three-membered ring active groups selectively and precisely capture free acidic gases released from heated PVC. Through irreversible ring-opening addition reactions, they are instantly converted into highly stable, non-volatile macromolecular compounds. This process releases absolutely no byproduct gases, thoroughly avoiding the risk of microporous foaming in the insulation layer.
  • Targeted Condensation & Anti-Blackening Lock: Focusing on low-molecular-weight aldehydes, ketones, and polyolefins generated by plasticizer degradation, specific highly active methylene groups undergo intense condensation reactions. This not only permanently fixes volatile odor sources but also effectively chelates catalytic degradation metal ions, cutting off the continuous thermal decomposition path and significantly enhancing anti-blackening performance.
  • Deep Charge Complexation: Low-melting-point organic metal salts provide electrophilic empty orbitals in the molten state. They neutralize acidic substances and deeply complex trace sulfur- and nitrogen-containing impurity gases, thoroughly anchoring them in the PVC matrix for true, long-lasting odorlessness.

Application Areas

  • Automotive Wiring: Automotive interior low-voltage wiring harnesses, car audio cables, and other automotive coated cables with strict VOC and odor requirements.
  • Home Appliances & Electronics: Internal power wiring for household appliances (especially cables in closed spaces subjected to long-term heating), office electronic equipment connecting cables, high-end data cables, and audio/video flame-retardant cables.
  • High-Sensitivity Scenarios: Non-toxic cables specifically for medical equipment, supporting cables for children's products, and eco-friendly indoor architectural wiring.

Usage Method

  • Adding Method: Add during the ingredient mixing stage of PVC cable material production. It is recommended to put it into the mixing equipment along with stabilizers, fillers, and other powder additives at the initial mixing stage.
  • Mixing Requirements: As a fully melting, easily dispersible powder, it has broad tolerance for equipment shear forces. Routine mixing ensures macroscopically uniform distribution; during the subsequent heated extrusion stage, it will automatically melt to achieve microscopic, complete homogeneous dispersion.

Reference Dosage

  • General Recommendation: Suggested addition amount is 0.1% - 0.3% of the total weight of the PVC cable material.
  • Starting Test Dosage: For initial evaluations, it is recommended to add at a median ratio of 0.2%. Further fine-tuning can be done based on the odor level of the final cable product and insulation spark test results.

Precautions

  • This product is a reactive melting material and needs to be processed at normal cable compounding or extrusion temperatures (usually above 150°C) to fully activate the chemical deodorizing reaction.
  • Store in a cool, dry place. If not completely used after opening, tie the bag tightly to prevent moisture absorption and agglomeration.
