PE (Polyethylene) Deodorizer

Product Introduction

Polyethylene (PE), the world's most widely used general-purpose plastic, is extensively applied in high-transparency films, pipes, and injection packaging. During high-temperature extrusion (like film blowing or casting) or post-consumer recycled (PCR) PE pelletizing, polymer chains inevitably undergo thermo-oxidative degradation, releasing pungent short-chain fatty acids and aldehydes/ketones. Meanwhile, PCR systems often contain complex sulfur and nitrogen odors from pesticides or detergent residues. High-end film products are extremely sensitive to optical clarity and heat-sealing performance, and traditional deodorizing methods often ruin the matrix properties of films.

To overcome these challenges fundamentally through polymer rheology and thermodynamics, this product is meticulously crafted as a high-performance reactive dry-blend deodorizer tailored for non-polar PE systems. It combines targeted chemical complexation with acid-absorbing catalytic mechanisms to accurately lock polar stench molecules and neutralize degradation acids from the source. Utilizing an original macromolecular anchoring and nanoscale isolation architecture, it grants the powder ultimate dispersibility and superior polymer compatibility. While powerfully eliminating odors, it does not interfere with PE's crystallization process, perfectly preserving the high light transmittance, heat sealability, and tensile strength of films. It is the premier odor solution for high-end blown films, food-grade packaging, and bulk PE recycling.

Deodorizing Principle

  • Empty Orbital Targeted Complexation: The core active component contains macromolecular metal coordination centers in a highly electron-deficient state. Upon thermal activation, it actively seeks out free amines (nitrogen) and thiols (sulfur), utilizing empty orbitals to irreversibly bond with their lone pair electrons, converting volatile stenches into stable macromolecular networks.
  • Lewis Acid/Base Neutralization & Catalysis: To address short-chain fatty acids (the source of rancidity) from PE thermal aging, embedded transition metal oxides act as strong "inorganic acid absorbers" to instantly neutralize free acids. Their Lewis catalytic properties also crack stubborn aldehydes and ketones, halting odor regeneration.
  • Homologous Macromolecular Co-crystallization: Introduces a macromolecular compatibilizer with highly polar reactive ends and ultra-long polyolefin carbon chains. During extrusion, the non-polar long chains undergo deep homologous co-crystallization with the PE film matrix, ensuring the film maintains excellent surface tension and heat sealability.
  • Nanoscale Isolation Dispersion: A dense outer nanoscale network acts as "microscopic bearings" between powder particles, cutting off adhesive forces between active components and ensuring exceptionally uniform single-particle dispersion during mixing.

Application Areas

  • High-End Transparent Films: LDPE / LLDPE / mLLDPE blown and cast film extrusion. Ideal for food-contact preservation films, premium courier bags, heavy-duty packaging, and shrink films. Powerfully removes odors while 100% preserving transparency and heat-seal strength.
  • Pipes & Daily Injection Packaging: HDPE water supply/drainage pipe extrusion, agricultural irrigation pipes, cosmetic/detergent bottles, and food injection containers. Eliminates plastic smells from thermal degradation.
  • Bulk PCR High-Value Recycling: Demanding odor-control applications for agricultural film recycling, fertilizer bag pelletizing, and bulk PCR PE blended modified materials. Effectively neutralizes complex spoilage odors.

Usage Method

  • Addition Method: A ready-to-use physical dry powder additive. Add along with resin pellets or color masterbatches during the pre-blending stage before pelletizing, film blowing, or injection molding.
  • Mixing Requirements: High-speed mixers provide optimal dispersion efficiency. Thanks to its built-in self-lubricating technology, tumble mixing in a standard V-blender, 3D mixer, or drum mixer at room temperature for 5-10 minutes also ensures the powder evenly coats the resin surfaces before processing.

Reference Dosage

  • Standard New PE or Mild Odor Recycled PE: 0.3% - 0.5% of total weight.
  • Complex Odor or High-Ratio PCR PE: 0.6% - 0.8% of total weight.
  • Starting Test Dosage: It is recommended to start testing at 0.4%, fine-tuning based on film thickness, color printing requirements, and the strictness of the final odor standard.

Precautions

  • Moisture-Proof Storage: Due to a large specific surface area, tightly seal the packaging immediately after use. Prolonged exposure to high humidity may affect its excellent dry powder flowability.
  • Processing Temperature: Recommended processing temperature is between 160°C - 220°C to perfectly activate the melt co-crystallization effect of the macromolecular compatibilizer.
