EVA Foaming Deodorizer

Product Introduction

This product is a reactive, targeted deodorizer developed specifically for high-end EVA (Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate) foamed and solid materials. In the complex 160°C-190°C internal mixing and foaming environment, odors have a dual origin: the EVA resin degrades, releasing pungent acetic acid; meanwhile, widely used AC/ADCA blowing agents decompose, generating highly toxic formamide and pungent ammonia. Traditional porous physical adsorbents easily cause "water bomb" defects (foam collapse) due to thermal desorption of moisture, and polar powders inevitably migrate to form severe "blooming" (white frost) on the finished surface.

To overcome this technical peak, this product pioneers a "catalytic degradation-ammonia deadlock" and "in-situ ring-opening esterification" dual-synergistic odor purification technology. For foaming byproducts, a special catalytic center instantly cracks formamide, while the released ammonia is immediately captured by macromolecular metal empty orbitals—achieving an irreversible "capture-decompose-cure" loop. For the characteristic sour odor, highly active epoxy groups and a weak base system undergo in-situ esterification under foaming heat, converting free acids into stable macromolecular esters. Crucially, the formula abandons inorganic isolation, introducing a homologous polymeric anti-blooming coating that perfectly matches the EVA matrix polarity. Melting at high mixing temperatures, it encapsulates the polar reactive core and co-crystallizes deeply with the EVA cell walls upon cooling. This achieves sensory purity while ensuring the expansion ratio remains intact and the surface is completely free of blooming, perfectly assisting high-end footwear and baby mats in passing strict environmental regulations.

White to slightly yellow, free-flowing ultra-fine powder

Deodorizing Principle

  • Catalytic Cracking & Ammonia Deadlock: Built-in alkaline earth metal compounds act as strong catalytic centers to crack toxic foaming monomers. Highly active macromolecular metal complexes then act as scavengers, utilizing empty orbitals to instantly chelate the released ammonia and nitrogenous odors, forming non-volatile coordinate salts.
  • In-situ Esterification of Sour Odors: To combat free acetic acid from resin degradation, special solid weak bases provide immediate neutralization. Subsequently, highly reactive solid epoxy compounds melt and undergo rapid ring-opening, grafting the free acid radicals into odorless, stable macromolecular hydroxy esters.
  • Homologous Co-Crystallization (Zero Blooming): Surrounded by a polymer wax layer highly homologous to the EVA matrix. Under the high shear and heat of the internal mixer, this wax completely melts and encapsulates the polar active powders. Upon cooling, it seamlessly co-crystallizes with the foam cell network, thermodynamically locking the precipitation channel and ensuring zero surface blooming.

Application Areas

  • EVA Foamed Products: Deep odor purification for high-end sports shoe midsoles, high-expansion slippers, children's crawling mats, yoga mats, and cushioning packaging.
  • Solid EVA Products: Odor control for hot melt adhesives, solar cell encapsulation films (POE/EVA), LSZH cable sheathing, and food-grade seals.

Usage Method

  • Adding Method: Must be added during the initial stage in the internal mixer or high-speed kneader, along with EVA resin, AC blowing agents, and fillers. Strictly prohibited to surface-dust during the later open mill stage.
  • Mixing Requirements: The high temperature (>150°C) and strong shear inside the internal mixer are essential to thoroughly melt the homologous carrier and zinc salts, allowing them to drag and evenly encapsulate the catalytic powder into the resin backbone as a liquid dispersion medium.

Reference Dosage

  • Recommended Dosage: Add at 1.0% - 2.0% of the total base compound weight.
  • Starting Test Dosage: For initial lab trials, it is strongly recommended to start at 1.5% and closely observe changes in the expansion ratio and cell density.

Precautions

  • Process Red Line (Preventing Premature Foaming & Collapse): This product contains highly active catalytic centers that significantly lower the blowing agent's decomposition temperature. When testing, you must deduct an equivalent amount of Zinc Oxide (ZnO) or Zinc Stearate from the original formula (e.g., if adding 1.5% of this product, reduce ZnO by 1.5%). This is the only correct way to maintain foaming kinetic balance and prevent severe collapse or cell merging.
  • Strict Moisture Prevention: Highly prone to absorbing ambient moisture. Moisture vaporizing during high-temperature EVA foaming will cause a "water bomb" effect (coarse cells or orange peel surface). Vacuum seal immediately after opening.
