Engineering Plastics Deodorizer

Product Introduction

Targeting the complex odors generated by PC, PA (Nylon), ABS, PBT, and alloy-modified engineering plastics under extreme high-temperature processing, this product is a reactive, high-performance deodorizing powder based on "porous thermal insulation framework and macromolecular compatible anchoring" technology. During extrusion or injection molding at temperatures up to 250°C-300°C, resins easily undergo thermal-oxidative degradation and shear chain scission, releasing pungent odors like free caprolactam, phenolic derivatives, and styrene monomers.

This product innovatively builds a composite architecture of a pure inorganic heat-resistant skeleton and a macromolecular reactive center. Microscopically, this provides a "thermal protective suit" for the active deodorizing groups, keeping them highly active even under extreme screw shear at 300°C to precisely lock and decompose nitrogen-containing, sulfur-containing, and aromatic odor molecules. Meanwhile, a special polymeric compatible medium is introduced to entangle deeply with the matrix in the melt state. This long-lasting, irreversible odor purification maintains the original impact resistance, tensile strength, and heat deflection temperature of engineering plastics, making it the ultimate odor management solution for high-end auto interiors, smart home appliance casings, and premium odorless recycled materials.

Deodorizing Principle

  • Microporous Extraction & Thermal Shielding: Utilizes high-temperature resistant inorganic minerals with molecular sieving capabilities as the core skeleton. Its massive surface area and nano-channels physically extract and intercept large-molecule aldehydes and aromatic odor gases in the hot melt. This framework also acts as an excellent thermal insulation layer, significantly extending the heat resistance limit.
  • Empty Orbital Targeted Complexation: The active components are rich in electron-deficient metal center complexes. Activated by high heat, they actively hunt and rapidly coordinate with foul-smelling molecules carrying lone pair electrons (e.g., amines, sulfides), converting them into highly stable, non-volatile macromolecular networks.
  • Dual-Action Catalysis & Acid Absorption: Specialized transition metal oxides act as strong catalytic sites. They catalytically crack stubborn aldehyde/ketone small molecules and instantly neutralize trace short-chain acids generated by resin degradation, blocking acid-catalyzed chain degradation from the source.
  • Macromolecular Compatible Anchoring: A specific macromolecular interfacial compatibilizer is introduced. During processing, its non-polar main chain co-crystallizes perfectly with the base plastic, thoroughly cutting off the physical channel for polar components to migrate outward.

Application Areas

  • Automotive Interior & Exterior Injection Odor Removal: Dedicated to low VOC and odor purification of auto parts such as PC/ABS alloy dashboards, heat-resistant PA Nylon engine components, and door interior panels, helping OEM parts easily pass strict Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) tests.
  • Electronics & High-end Appliance Casing Odor Control: Widely used in flame-retardant PC/ABS smart socket casings, precision heat-resistant home appliance injection parts, PBT high-frequency connectors, and internal structural parts to effectively eliminate pungent plastic odors generated during high-temp injection.
  • Modification Compounding & Recycled Engineering Plastics VOC Upgrade: For high-end modified engineering plastic granulation and the upgrading of PC/ABS and PA Nylon recycled regrinds that have strict VOC emission requirements, powerfully purifying complex mixed odors and adding immense value.

Usage Method

  • Adding Method: This product is a pure physical dry-blend additive. Add it into the mixing equipment along with other resin pellets during the preliminary mixing stage of compounding, extrusion, or injection molding.
  • Mixing Requirements: It is highly recommended to use a high-speed mixer. High-speed and high-shear mixing environments ensure that the deodorizing powder evenly and firmly adheres to the surface of the engineering plastic pellets, thereby maximizing odor purification and processing stability at high temperatures.

Reference Dosage

  • Virgin Materials or Mild Odor Regrinds: Add at 0.3% - 0.5% of the total material weight.
  • Complex Odor Recycled Plastics: Add at 0.6% - 1.0% of the total material weight.
  • Starting Test Dosage: It is recommended to start testing at a standard 0.5%, and then finely adjust based on the VOC test data and mechanical property balance of the final product.

Precautions

  • Strictly Prevent Moisture: The product's skeleton is highly hygroscopic. Introducing moisture will trigger catastrophic hydrolytic degradation of PC or PA at temperatures above 250°C and cause silver streaks on the product surface. Use promptly after opening, and vacuum-seal or tightly tie any remaining powder.
  • Maximum Temperature Limit: Despite the thermal shielding skeleton, to guarantee the best activity of the core complexes, it is recommended to keep extrusion or injection molding temperatures below 300°C (short-term peaks should not exceed 320°C).
