Coatings Liquid Deodorizer

Product Introduction

The modern coatings industry faces increasingly strict environmental and low-VOC requirements. However, traditional physical masking or powder-adsorbing deodorizers often have severe flaws when handling odors from resin synthesis residues, solvent volatilization, and photoinitiator cleavage. These traditional materials tend to cause microscopic agglomeration in micrometer-level paint films, destroying the surface quality of the coating, and are extremely difficult to make compatible with both polar aqueous and non-polar solvent systems simultaneously.

To thoroughly break through this industrial barrier, this product relies on cutting-edge molecular-level targeted complexation and amphiphilic coupling technologies, resulting in an omnipotent homogeneous liquid odor-neutralizing additive that bridges waterborne, solvent-borne, and UV-curable systems. Using a high-purity amphiphilic medium as a carrier, highly active deodorizing functional groups are completely liquefied, presenting an absolute true solution state. It possesses excellent leveling and dispersion properties, seamlessly dissolving with various resins, monomers, and solvents to ensure optical clarity and high gloss of the paint film without altering the original hue. This product achieves a qualitative leap from physical adsorption to irreversible chemical reaction. Through a dual-track synergistic mechanism, it precisely captures underlying foul odors like amines and sulfides, rapidly swallows irritating aldehyde/ketone gases, and can directly participate in the cross-linking network of the paint film. It truly achieves targeted, long-lasting odor neutralization that never rebounds, while absolutely not interfering with the coating's curing speed, adhesion, and final mechanical properties.

Appearance

Colorless to slightly yellow clear transparent liquid, free of any suspended particles or precipitated crystals.

Deodorizing Principle

  • Amphiphilic Homogeneous Penetration & Targeted Complexation: Relying on a special amphiphilic coupling carrier, the active metal ion complexes are thoroughly depolymerized and perfectly dissolved into various polar or non-polar coating systems in a homogeneous state. The metal center, situated in a special empty-orbital state, accurately identifies and strongly captures malodorous small molecules containing lone pair electrons (such as amines, sulfides, and organic acids), permanently converting them into stable, non-volatile macromolecular substances via coordinate bonding.
  • Nucleophilic Swallowing & Network Cross-linking Anchoring: The embedded highly active methylene nucleophilic groups can rapidly seek out and swallow volatile aldehyde and ketone molecules at room temperature, undergoing irreversible nucleophilic addition. More importantly, this functional group carries unsaturated double bonds. During the film-forming stage (especially UV or thermal curing), it can directly participate in the cross-linking network of the coating resin as an active macromolecular monomer, firmly weaving the structure that locked the odor molecules into the paint film backbone.

Application Areas

  • Solvent-based Coatings: Elimination of solvent residues and monomer odors in high-end wood paints and automotive refinish paints based on alkyd, acrylic, polyurethane (PU), nitrocellulose, and epoxy resins.
  • UV/EB Curable Systems: Removal of residual monomers and photoinitiator decomposition odors in ultraviolet or electron beam curable coatings and inks.
  • High-Solid & Eco-friendly Coatings: Odor management for resin oligomers in high-solid, low-VOC formulations, and also compatible with conventional waterborne systems for auxiliary deodorization.

Usage Method

  • Adding Method: This product has excellent dispersibility. It can be added along with remaining solvents or additives during the paint let-down stage (after cooling down); it can also be added online via metering devices right before application.
  • Mixing Requirements: The product has superb compatibility with coating systems and a broad tolerance for mixing equipment shear forces. Simply stir routinely for 5-10 minutes after addition to ensure uniform dispersion.
  • Recommendation for Highly Filled Systems: For coating systems containing large amounts of fillers like titanium dioxide and calcium carbonate, it is recommended to add it "after the grinding/dispersion stage, during the let-down stage." This ensures the active components contact the odor source first, avoiding ineffective adsorption onto porous pigment surfaces.

Reference Dosage

  • General Recommendation: Add 0.1% - 0.2% of the total coating material weight.
  • Starting Test Dosage: It is suggested to begin step-testing from a low dosage of 0.1% to determine the optimal cost-effective amount based on the balance between odor elimination and film properties (like adhesion and hardness).

Precautions

  • Moisture & Light Protection: This product contains highly active cross-linking components. Please store strictly sealed in a cool, dry place. Direct sunlight or exposure to high-temperature fire sources is strictly prohibited.
  • Incompatibilities: Avoid direct mixing with undiluted strong acids or strong alkaline substances to prevent disrupting the complexation stability of the active metal ions in the system.
