Polybutadiene Rubber (BR) Deodorizer

Product Introduction

This product is a highly efficient reactive odorless deodorizer developed specifically for Polybutadiene Rubber (BR) and its blend systems (such as BR/NR, BR/SBR). In the production and processing of BR, residual unreacted butadiene monomers and oligomer volatiles generated by high-temperature chain degradation release stubborn unsaturated olefin odors. Concurrently, industrial vulcanization blend systems often produce complex odors of hydrogen sulfide and organic amines. Traditional physical adsorption powders struggle to capture these hydrocarbons and polar malodors, and are prone to free migration in the non-polar BR matrix.

To overcome this technical barrier, this product innovatively adopts a "diene-targeted cycloaddition" and "metal-organic framework complexation" composite purification technology. By selecting a solid-state compatible carrier, under the high temperature and high shear of the internal mixer, the carrier rapidly melts to perfectly encapsulate the highly polar reactive centers. After cooling, its long aliphatic chains physically entangle deeply with the BR macromolecular network. This original "in-situ anchoring" mechanism thermodynamically cuts off the migration channels of polar molecules, achieving a persistently pure and dry product surface. It comprehensively maintains the outstanding elasticity, abrasion resistance, and low-temperature properties of BR, meeting stringent RoHS 2.0 and REACH environmental standards.

Deodorizing Principle

  • Targeted Cycloaddition Fixation: Built-in highly active dienophiles actively capture residual conjugated diene monomers and oligomer volatiles during mixing. Through highly efficient cycloaddition reactions, these volatile malodorous monomers are instantly converted into extremely stable, non-volatile cyclic macromolecules, eliminating olefin emissions from the source.
  • Metal-Organic Framework Complexation: Targeting the composite malodors (thiols, amines) generated during vulcanization in BR blend systems, it features special metal-organic reactive clusters. Utilizing their empty orbitals, they precisely complex with sulfur and nitrogen malodorous molecules, converting them into highly thermostable complexes, while acting as activation centers to optimize crosslinking density.
  • In-situ Anchoring & Anti-precipitation: Utilizes an amphiphilic long-chain aliphatic carrier that melts to wrap the polar active components during high-temp processing. After cooling, it deeply entangles with the non-polar BR matrix, completely isolating migration channels and achieving true anti-precipitation performance.

Application Areas

  • Automotive Industry & High-Elasticity Parts: Deodorization for eco-friendly auto seals, BR blend automotive shock pads, premium radial tire inner liners, and low VOC modification for sound dampening sheets.
  • Daily Life & Sports Gear: Purification for indoor eco-friendly high-elasticity sports mats, high-end yoga mat odor modification, eco-friendly sports shoe sole odor elimination, and odorless toys.
  • Industrial Blend Systems: Specialized in odor control for BR/NR, BR/SBR blend systems. Thoroughly purifies the comprehensive malodors generated during high-temperature vulcanization and mixing of complex blends.

Usage Method

  • Adding Method: Add during the initial stage of internal mixing. It is recommended to feed it into the mixer along with raw rubber and inorganic fillers (carbon black, silica) to fully disperse the powder using initial mechanical shear. While conventional equipment is sufficient, pre-dispersing it with other inorganic powders using a high-speed mixer (high-shear mixer) is highly recommended for the most optimal, uniform dispersion.
  • Mixing Requirements: Ensure the actual colloid temperature in the mixing chamber exceeds the carrier's melting point (typically above 140°C) to fully trigger the melting encapsulation mechanism and complete in-situ anchoring.

Reference Dosage

  • Recommended Dosage: 0.1% - 0.3% (based on total material weight).
  • Starting Test Dosage: To achieve a perfect balance between odor reduction and anti-precipitation, start testing at the lower limit (0.1%) and fine-tune according to blend ratios and actual results.

Precautions

  • Processing Temp Threshold: The anti-precipitation mechanism highly depends on a high-temp melt environment. Ensure processing temperatures exceed 140°C; otherwise, incomplete carrier melting will risk lowering surface dryness.
  • Moisture-proof Storage: Core highly active components are extremely sensitive to environmental moisture. After opening for sampling, exhaust the air immediately, seal tightly, and store in a cool, dry place.
